 Off We Go!

It was unanimously agreed that we, Team Route 66, had to start our road trip along the iconic Route 66 by visiting the Route 66 Association Hall of Fame & Museum in Pontiac, Illinois (that’s a lot of Route 66s for one sentence!). After all, how could we miss it?

All four of us—Angela, Olivia, Tyler, and I (Vivienne)—entered the red-brick building with large smiles on our faces. We were beyond excited to finally begin our bound-to-be-awesome road trip, and learn about the history behind the highway we would be taking. We learned that Route 66 is also called the “Mother Load,” since it spans over 2,400 miles, connecting Chicago, Illinois all the way to Santa Monica, California; how it was established in 1926; and how the movie Cars was inspired by this highway. Upon learning about this last fact, Tyler insisted that we all watch Cars to get into the Route 66 vibe. We girls decided we’d put that under consideration.

Before we hit the road again, there was one last thing to do—pose in front of the museum’s giant Route 66 sign! We all had a good laugh trying to get the perfect, everybody-jump! picture.
